2004 MERCURY MARAUDER
The Maruader was first produced from 1963-1965 and again from 1969-1970.
From 2003 to 2004, Ford revived the name and produced the Marauder as a "high performance" version of the Grand Marquis sedan. It was based on the Panther platform, which utilized a hydroformed body on steel construction. Speed sensitive variable assist steering, live solid axle, limited slip differential, police grade sway bars, and gas pressurized load leveling shocks. It is fitted wtih a faurecia dual eshaust system and rides on two tire sizes; 235/18 on the front and 245/18 on the rear. The interior features a console with bucket seats and special gauges.
The goal in creating the Maruader was to deliver a 1960s American muscle car experience, combined with contemporary driving dynamics, comfort, safety and low emissions. What was accomplished was an impressive blend of size, performance and good looks.
