1999 Pontiac Trans Am
1999 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6: 30th Anniversary: Daytona Pace Car.
- To celebrate their 30th year of uninterrupted production, Pontiac offered a limited run of special anniversary edition Firebird Trans Am’s, all of which came with the venerable WS6 package.
- The high-performance WS6 upgrades include factory Ram Air hood, upgraded suspension, larger wheels, a low-restriction exhaust, and a 320hp 5.7-liter LS1 V8 engine.
- The 30th Anniversary Edition was offered exclusively in Arctic White with blue stripes trailing behind the twin “Screaming Chicken’s” on the hood: a throwback to the original livery of the very first Trans Am’s.
- They also came equipped with special 17-inch anodized blue wheels, and all of the convertibles came with blue tops.
- The interior is adorned with white Prado leather seats complete with special 30th Anniversary Badges stitched into the headrests.
- Special badging was applied to fenders, center caps, and floor mats.
- Each of the 1,600 Anniversary Edition Trans Am’s also received a special number plate identifying their number in the sequence, this one is # 1559.
- Pontiac then doubled down on the celebration, slating only 30 of 30th Anniversary Trans Am’s to be completed as Daytona 500 Pace Cars with a special Livery to commemorate the 40th running of “The Great American Race”; This included additional stripes on the body of the car, and Daytona 500 logos on the doors accompanied by special documents and literature sold with the car.
- Of the 1,600 30th Anniversary Trans Am’s produced, 535 were convertibles, of them only 175 received a manual gearbox. This car is one of only 119 with the optional Hurst Shifter making it one of the rarest specifications of the commemorative offering.
