1967 Pontiac GTO
- The first generation GTO was considered by some to have started the muscle car trend with all four domestic automakers offering a variety of models there after.
- The GTO became its own model from 1966 to 1974. It was an optional package in 1964 and 1965.
- The GTO was designed by John DeLorean. GTO is an Italian abbreviation for Gran Turismo Omologato. The GTO was one of the fastest cars Pontiac made.
- The louver covered tail lights were replaced with eight tail lights for 1967. The front grill was changed to a mate black frame with a criss cross pattern.
- The the 1967 GTO came in three body styles.65,716 hardtops, 9,517 convertibles and 7,029 sport coupes were produced.
- The tri-power carburetor was replaced with a Rochester Quadrajet and the 389 engine was bored out to 400 cubic inches to produce 335 horsepower.
