1936 CORD CUSTOM DERHAM PHAETON
- E.L. Cord founded Cord in 1929 in Auburn, Indiana.
- First mass production front wheel drive car.
- 288.6 cu.in. Lycoming engine developing 125 horsepower.
- Features: Hidden headlights, the absence of running boards and a radio (antenna under the car)
- 810 and 812 models were produced in 1936 and 1937.
- Every car was tested to run over 100 m.p.h. before delivery.
- This very unique example is a Derham designed 3 position disappearing top with a one piece windshield.
- Commissioned by Dr. John Dorrance (founder of Campbell Soup) for his daughter Charlotte Dorrance Wright as a wedding present.
